Cavitation is a non – surgical technique to eliminate localized fat through the use of low-frequency ultrasound, which is applied to the area where the fat is concentrated to dissolve the fat cells from within. Subsequently, the fat is eliminated with the urine or through the lymphatic system. This technique is used to eliminate orange peel skin and mattress skin, restoring a normal appearance to the skin of the treated areas, while improving circulation, eliminating toxins and increasing the tone and elasticity of the tissues.

For the use of cavitation machine, a previous medical examination is required, since this technique is contraindicated in:

  • Patients with pacemakers or other implanted electronic devices.
  • Patients with hypercholesterolemia.
  • Patients with hypertriglyceridemia.
  • With kidney failure.
  • With liver failure.
  • Pregnant women.
  • Breastfeeding women.

Cavitation is not without risks and must be applied by a specialist in aesthetic medicine, since it cannot be used in areas close to important organs, as it could damage them. In addition, the inexperienced use of low-frequency ultrasound devices could cause burns and blisters, given the intense heat they generate.

A dozen 40-minute sessions (with an interval of three days between each one) are usually needed to obtain appreciable results. After each session, it is advisable to resort to drainage techniques (massage) to facilitate the elimination of fat cells and prevent them from being reabsorbed again. Also, in order to eliminate fat and toxins, before and after each session, you should drink 1.5 liters of water. It is also recommended to follow a low-calorie diet for days before starting the cavitation treatment.

Cavitation procedure

After delimiting the area to be treated with cavitation (abdomen, legs, buttocks…), a gel is applied to move with a circular applicator. During each session, a non-painful sucking sensation is felt.

Each session lasts approximately 20-40 minutes and then other drainage techniques, pressotherapy or massages can be applied to promote the elimination of fat cells and prevent them from being reabsorbed again.

To achieve optimal results , between 6 and 12 sessions are recommended, depending on the needs of each patient, once a week.

 Recommended frequency:

What is the Frequency and Power that a cavitator must have? A cavitation device must work in a range of frequencies from 30 to 50 kHz, since it has been shown that at higher or lower frequencies the effectiveness decreases.

Benefits of cavitation

Cavitation is a new treatment that has numerous benefits, such as, for example, that your skin recovers its young and healthy appearance . Here are some of its other benefits:

  • Improves blood circulation.
  • Eliminates toxins and fluids when combined with lymphatic drainage.
  • It increases the tone and elasticity of the tissues, that is, it tones the muscles.
  • Helps regulate intestinal transit .
  • Eliminates cellulite and orange peel skin.
  • Improves the elasticity and appearance of the skin.
  • Activates collagen production.

Recommendations for before and after each session

During the cavitation process, it is advisable to drink plenty of water (1.5 liters of water) and follow a hypocaloric diet (low-calorie diet) to achieve the best results, as well as light exercise between sessions.
