Glass packaging is preferred for its transparency and barrier properties. It allows packaging with a longer shelf life without worrying about loss of carbon dioxide or entry of oxygen.

The metal retains light, holds carbon dioxide, is immune to oxygen, and has good beverage preservation properties.
