What is a bunded pallet?
A bunded pallet, also known as spill containment pallets or spill trays, is a platform with a liquid tight base to contain any leaks or spillages from the containers stored on it. Any leaks or spills will be collected in the bunded pallet, preventing contamination of the site/personnel and hastening the clean-up process.
Bunded pallets designed to keep underneath liquid chemical
Bunded pallets, which are commonly found in industrial, manufacturing, and warehouse environments, can typically handle most common fuels and chemicals. It is designed to be kept underneath your oil/fuel drum or other liquid chemical storage units.
Any tank, container, or drum must be bunded to prevent leaks. The bund must have a capacity equal to or greater than 110 percent of the largest container or 25 percent of their total aggregate storage capacity.
As a result, when storing large quantities of oils, you must use bunded spill pallets by law. However, there are additional advantages to using bunded pallets:
- Spills can be cleaned up much more quickly and easily, with less disruption to productivity, and frequently without the use of additional spill kits or specialized equipment.
- Personnel and the environment can be kept safe and protected from the dangers of hazardous chemical contact.
- They can assist you in complying with various health, safety, and environmental regulations and guidelines.
A conventional bunded pallet holds approximately 240 liters, ideal for bottles and drums, with a formed internal draining bottom and constructed platform, and can hold volumes ranging from 1000 liters to well beyond. It is used to safely and securely store bulk fuels, clean and waste oil, chemicals, and other hazardous liquids.
Why should one use containment pallet?
Every pallet should be able to safely support the drums. Its proper implementation will ensure that drums are properly stored without spilling fluids, resulting in a healthy and safe working environment. In any industry, bundled pallets are the health makers.
Containment pallets differ depending on the type of business using it. It includes businesses such as shops, factories, hospitals, hotels, schools, offices, and public buildings, among others. Some businesses, for example, may believe that the liquid or material they store is not hazardous and, as a result, do not require pallets for storage.
Before we end-
Accidents can happen at any time, even with the smallest mistake; thus, proper containment is essential to avoid a hostile phenomenon that can turn into a revolting and costly tremor. As a result, a routine examination is required to ensure that the containment pallet integrity is maintained and that everything meets legal requirements.
